The Launch of The Fableists Fashion Label Made for Kids (Not by Kids)

Posted by: Gareth Dinnage | Jan 13, 2014

We'd like to tell you about the launch of a brilliant new brand with big ideals, who most certainly are walking the walk.  Utilitarian-cool sustainable clothing for kids aged 4 to 10, The Fableists offer a bright and breezy alternative to kids wear...

This autumn celebrated the launch of a visionary new label for the coolest kids on the block. The Fableists is born of a collaboration of British talent, including artists, designers, production companies, an ad agency and an entrepreneur’s dream.

The Fableists first collection is a mix of timeless, unisex and ultra-stylish clothes, built to last with solid ethical roots all made for a new generation of clued up consumers who want to buy differently. The label represents a move away from mass-produced fashion, manufactured under sinister conditions and laden with chemicals.

The designs are inspired by vintage work wear and as they are mostly unisex, are made to be handed down. The collections feature limited print t-shirts by graphic artists and illustrators.

“Like so many people, we were concerned with the growing throw-away fashion trend that led to such tragedies as the Rana Plaza collapse this spring,” says The Fableists founder Matt Cooper. “When we searched for great looking clothes whose provenance we could trace for our own kids, we couldn’t find what we were after. We created The Fableists to meet our own needs and those of our friends and colleagues in the creative industries. We don’t want to set a future deadline to work towards – we want to make changes now.”

Of upmost importance to The Fableists is telling our story. It’s where we have taken our name from and we want the people who choose our clothes to know where the organic cotton has come from and where they are made. We take care to make sure every aspect of our company meets these standards; from where we have labels printed, to the materials used in our rivets, to the fair way we pay and treat everyone involved in the making of our clothes, and the workings of our brand.

Making a change in the way consumers shop and perceive clothes in terms of buying, using and disposing of them, will make a huge difference to family health, the lives of others, the planet and will help to create a positive movement. But we are also adamant that our clothes look the business. The Fableists are a label with a vision.
